Infection Control: Infection Prevention and You

Please do

  • Wash your hands before and after visiting relatives or friends
  • Keep lockers free from clutter to enable cleaning
  • Bring your own toiletries and moist hand wipes into hospital when you come as a patient and use these after meals and after visiting the bathroom.
  • Wash hands after using the toilet
  • Please feel free to ask hospital staff if they have washed or used alcohol gel to clean their hands
  • Talk to staff if you are concerned about infection or the cleanliness of the ward
  • Wash your hands prior to eating

You must not:

  • Come to visit a friend or relative if you are feeling unwell with sickness, diarrhoea, fever, sore throat or flu
  • Sit on any bed other than your own
  • Walk in bare feet
  • Have more than two visitors at a time
  • Allow visitors to sit on the bed, please use the chairs provided
