Bevan Ward Pilot Ward: Bevan Ward
Hillingdon Hospital has an innovative and exciting pilot ward, with 24 single rooms designed in three different layouts, to assess the best way to deliver better outcomes for patients, much-reduced infection rates and faster recovery times.

Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust supports research in many areas.  Our clinicians predominately recruit patients into National multi centre clinical trials many of them are on the National Institute Health Research portfolio and funded by one of the Department of Health partners. We are supported by the London North West Comprehensive Research Network which is part of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) which is funded by the Department of Health

Post Grad Centre The Trust has a strong commitment to support the NHS R&D agenda. It continues to be seen as a good centre to conduct clinical trials with excellent recruitment and reliable data.
We employ a fulltime generic research nurse whose role is to support our clinicians in the recruitment into the portfolio adopted studies and a data manager.

Process to gain Trust approval
The local principal investigator (local researcher) is responsible for gaining approval for the project. This includes approval by the relevant division within the Trust and any other departmental managers that the project may impact upon, for example, pharmacy, x-ray, pathology, cardiology to ensure that the division has the resources and capacity to support the project.  Trust approval is gained through the R&D office.
