breastfeeding support

Here at Hillingdon Hosptial are committed to promoting breastfeeding. We recognise the important health benefits that exist for both you and your baby and we want to do all we can to support you in your decision to breastfeed.

Our initiation rates are currently 78% (the % of women who start to breastfeeding in the hospital).

Mothers will be enabled and supported to feed their infants in all public areas of the Trust's premises. If any women feels she needs privacy, we can provide comfortable facilities, please just ask at reception at the main entrance of the hospital and or the main entrance of Materntiy.

Are you interested in becoming a Breastfeeding Support Worker?

We are looking for volunteers with experience/interest in breastfeeding, to expand their knowledge and support mothers with breastfeeding. Please contact Kelly Kinsella on 01895 279723 for details.

We also provide support for you once you have had your baby at your local Children Centres. All staff at the Children Centres have been specially trained to help and support you with breastfeeding.

When your baby is born here, the labour ward staff encourage the Golden Hour to help initiate breastfeeding. We also have breastfeeding Peer Support Workers (PSW) who volunteer their time to come and give you one to one support on the post-natal wards.
