Clientele served: Adults with complex disability primarily due to stroke, MS, Spinal injury, Acquired brain injury, and other long term conditions. The unit admits patients from the London Borough of Hillingdon and adjoining areas.

The Rehabilitation Unit recently won two awards, including a National Multiple Sclerosis Society Award.

ARU also has out patient services such as multidisciplinary clinics, Rehabilitation Medicine clinics and Specialist clinics like spasticity and nurse led clinics. The interdisciplinary team consists of nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, therapy assistants, speech and language therapist and clinical psychologists. The expertise for our staff ensures evidence based practice throughout the service and continued cross therapy learning.

The Unit uses assistive technology with generic measures of disability such as a Functional Independence Measure (FIM) and Functional Assessment Measure (FAM), in a goal orientated approach to rehabilitation.

The team work closely with the Stroke Assessment Unit teams, to ensure a quality approach to all aspects of rehabilitation.
