 The Stroke UnitHillingdon Hospital: Lower Ground floor (opposite the Elderly Day Hospital) Visiting hours: 15.00 - 17.00 and 18.00 - 20.00 hours The Stroke Unit is based at the Hillingdon Hospital site. It provides a full multidisciplinary assessment to all stroke patients admitted to the Unit, caring for all adults of any age. The specially designated 3 bay stroke unit provides a modern environment for patients recovering from a stroke, with expertly trained staff working towards the quickest possible rehabilitation. A stroke occurs when a blood vessel that brings oxygen and nutrients to the brain bursts or is clogged by a blood clot or other particle, keeping part of the brain from getting the oxygen it needs. The staff of the Stroke Unit have been specially trained to work in this area. Their focus, education, and experiences in caring for stroke patients put them in the best position to provide patients with the exact care they need.
