![]() Foundation Trust: The Council of GovernorsFoundation Trust elections underwayElections are currently underway for Public Governors to represent the Central, South, and Rest of England Public Constituencies. Nominations ran from the period 19th March to 4th April and voting will take place for the Central and South elections between 25th April and 17th May.
We were also seeking a Public Governor to represent the ‘rest of England’ Constituency. Unfortunately no nominations were received and therefore we will be seeking nominations again shortly. To stand for election you will need to live in an area not shown on this map. What does the Council of Governors do?Governors are central to the local accountability of a Foundation Trust and have an important role in ensuring that the Trust Board takes account of the views of the members and stakeholders when making important decisions. In addition, the Board must consult the Council of Governors when it is preparing the Foundation Trust’s annual plan. The Council of Governors:

Council of Governors meetingsThe Council of Governors meets quarterly, held in public unless confidential business is being discussed. See meeting dates and papers. Become a member of the Council of GovernorsIf you are interested in becoming a Public Governor then you will first need to become a member of the Foundation Trust. Public Governors are elected for three years. Elections are run independently of the Trust according to rules set out in the Foundation Trust’s constitution. Being a Governor is voluntary and unpaid. Governors meet quarterly and must abide by a code of conduct (pdf, 44KB). There are also a small number of restrictions (pdf, 50KB) on who can become a Governor. The current Governors’ term of office expires on 31st March 2014.
