Foundation Trust: Membership

We currently have over 10,400 members including over 6,800 public members and over 3,500 staff members. Becoming a member means that you can:

  • Demonstrate your support for Hillingdon and Mount Vernon Hospitals
  • Help and advise us on plans for developing our services
  • Elect the Council of Governors which will have an important role in representing the members in discussions around the Trust’s strategy
  • Stand for election to the Council of Governors yourself
  • Receive regular Trust information including The Pulse magazine for members of the Foundation Trust
  • Be invited to take part in members meetings where you can find out more about the work of your local hospitals and have a chance to give us your views

Members can also take advantage of the discounts at a range of major online retailers that are available to NHS staff through NHSDiscounts.

How Do I Become a Member?

All staff working at the Trust on a permanent contract automatically become staff members of the Foundation Trust, as do staff who have a fixed term contract of at least 12 months, or have been working at the Trust for at least 12 months (including as a volunteer or through a contractor). Staff are able to ‘opt-out’ of being a member, although very few have. Anyone living within our Public Constituencies and aged 16 years or over can become a public member provided that they are not eligible for staff membership.
