About us: Hillingdon Hospital Masterplan – A vision for the future

Masterplan

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has produced a Masterplan for its Hillingdon site to evolve over the next ten to 20 years. One of the biggest challenges is the condition of our buildings which are old and cost us a significant amount each year to repair and maintain. Our Masterplan proposes how this can be addressed by demolishing and replacing buildings over time as funds become available. This will include providing a new hospital block and maternity wing.

The vision

  • To create a built environment that is welcoming and comfortable with a sense of well-being for patients with well-designed clinical spaces
  • Encourage easy access with good public transport and improved car parking
  • To create easy entry and exit points for pedestrians and motorists
  • To create a parkland setting with landscaped grounds to enhance the hospital buildings.

The Masterplan is currently only outlined in simple block form and will be subject to change over time as we move through the detailed planning and design process.

We still have to identify ways to access the significant funds required to deliver the improvement works but as the only acute hospital in the borough, Hillingdon Hospital is an obvious choice for any future investment and development in the area.

Our vision has been informed by the Shaping a Healthier Future (SaHF) programme, which is North West London’s agreed proposal for reconfiguring acute health services across the area.
