Date published: 29 June 2022

Our Wellbeing and Disability Staff Network is an active staff network to provide a safe environment for colleagues to identify challenges and offer suggestions. We look into different elements of the organisation to ensure our hospital is accessible not only for service users and visitors but also for our workforce.

It also acts the network acts as an advisory group for the hospital’s redevelopment as colleagues from the redevelopment team attend. A very important thing to mention is that the network is open to everyone who is interested in holistic wellbeing.

The new chair of the network, Lauren Harvey, discusses the group on the Hillingdon Hospitals Podcast, focussing today World Scleroderma Day (29 June).

Systemic sclerosis is an autoimmune condition. It is rare condition and that happens when the immune system targets connective tissues including blood vessels, cartilage and tendons. Damage by the immune system causes excessive inflammation and increased production of collagen, leading to scarring or fibrosis of the body’s tissues and organs (scleroderma).
